First Visit

Our goal is to make your first visit as informative as possible.

Dr. Prosterman will do a comprehensive examination of yours or your child’s jaws and teeth. Once the examination is completed, she will explain the problem(s) observed, and will give recommendations for treatment. Dr. Prosterman will discuss the type of appliance(s) needed as well as the financial commitment. This is also an opportunity for you to address any concerns and ask questions. At the conclusion of this visit, you will know the course of action that Dr. Prosterman is recommending, approximately how long this treatment will take, and the cost. If Dr. Prosterman feels that treatment is indicated, she will recommend that you or your child have full diagnostic records taken at the next appointment.

For some children, orthodontic treatment is indicated but would be better accomplished after further growth and development. If this is the case, your child will be reevaluated every six to twelve months until the timing is ideal to begin orthodontic care. There is no charge for these follow-up visits.

Second Visit

Diagnostic Records

This is the appointment that follows the initial consultation. If Dr. Prosterman recommends orthodontic treatment, diagnostic records are taken to complete the diagnosis and formulate a detailed treatment plan. This appointment includes photographs of the teeth and face; plaster models of the teeth, radiographs (x-rays) of the teeth and the jaws. It is only after the analysis of the above that Dr. Prosterman can establish a final individualized treatment plan.
